Ekaterina Gerasimenko (1993, Moscow).

Graduated from The Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and The Institute of Contemporary Art «BAZA». She participated in a residency at the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts, «Open studios» at the Winzavod CCA and in the «ColLab» program at The Vaults Centre for Artistic Production, GES-2. 

In her artistic practices Ekaterina refers to the tradition of realistic painting and sculpture, herewith striving to crystallize the intersection of the illusory and the possible. 

The memory of a place and everyday life becomes the subject of her interest. 

Through the subtle collage of the image, the artist fine-tunes the view of modernity, consisting of a chaotic and indirect superposition of different layers of information and time. 

The artist’s main method consists of second-order observations through photography. Ekaterina Gerasimenko conducts her field research in search of an uncontrollable subtext, which is always to be found in disturbing images that appear in the gap between reality and the memory of it.
